No I Didn't Bring It Home
Most passengers were asleep on my flight (Departure @ 1.30am) while I was one of the handful that were keeping the staff busy. Well not really, someone kept pressing the call button, which was rather irritating, and I'd just grab the opportunity to get me a drink. Good thing is that I don't bother anyone with my flash while taking pictures.
I couldn't sleep while it was all nice and dark but was tired just as the sun was rising and we were about to land. Good thing about staying awake is that you don't miss things like weird cloud formations and a beautiful sunrise.

Breakfast: Whatever It Was, It Was Seafood & Delicious
Right after breakfast it was time to start the decent to Perth's Airport. You basically get an aerial tour of Western Australia before touching down. It looked like a giant patchwork blanket with colours gradually changing from all shades of browns, greens, blues and with some speckled with white. Honestly the little "tour" was more colourful than what you'd see once you land. The flight was nice and smooth, and so was the landing, but my ears still hurt and I will be partially deaf for a few days.
As I didn't sleep in the flight, the day continued with me landing at Perth's International Airport at 6.25am and all went well, including customs which cleared my belacan & cincalok. Once I got out, I sent my sis a message to let her know I was out, thinking she was waiting somewhere in the airport or at least nearby. Calling her after 15 minutes revealed that she and her housemate, Michelle, had actually woken up after the message was sent. Good thing the airport has got more shops and food outlets since the last time I visited. Since I had to wait, I got myself a big fudgey chunk called a "Hedgehog Slice" and a Lime Diet Coke to stay awake. After waiting for another 15 minutes in the lounge, I got bored and decided to go brave the "cold winds" outside. The weather, which was overcast and windy, made it feel like I was walking in air-conditioned comfort all day long. There I was sitting in my t-shirt, enjoying a cold DC while the smokers near me were huddled with their hot coffees. What lovely weather!!
Finally Michelle & my sis arrive and the first thing on the itinerary was to get groceries for tonight's surprise dinner. Somehow, we all managed to keep my arrival a secret from my uncle and grand-aunt. First stop was Northbridge which was a chore finding due to roadworks. Once we got there, we were going around the same few roads looking for parking space, gas and also because we took a turn or two too early. Once that was done, they got breakfast while I got my first taste of the chinese food there, which I wished I had not.
After breakfast, we were going from shop to shop, shop to car, across the road for something forgotten, back to the car to top up the meter... u get the picture. After all the raw ingredients, we were off to the shopping center (in East Victoria Park I think) for some soft drinks, and got Nando's for lunch as well. With all the hype that uncle Bob had been giving this Nando's chicken, it was nothing great. Even if I had had the Peri-naise it wouldn't have helped with the fact that the nenek selling nasi padang would have made a better piece of chicken. With all the shopping done, it was time to head back and get some rest before we started preparing for the dinner.
Waking Up @ 7AM Isn't Her Thing
After chucking my things away from sight and getting settled in a bit, it was time to start preparations for dinner. The plan tonight was a Chinese dinner as my grand-aunt prefers, or kinda misses, that range of cuisine. Michelle planned on making wantons, sweet & sour pork, stir-fried vegetables and grilled chicken. As she planned the menu, she was the head chef for the night, while I was commis cook, smashing garlic and prawns and making lots of music in a spacious kitchen! So what did my sis do? She sat on her fat arse half the time... hahaha... well for a while....but eventually she started cleaning the place.
Daryl (designated driver) then drove my sis over to my grand-aunt's place to get her and my uncle over. Once my sis sent the message they were on their way back, Michelle got all excited and kept asking me to hide in the room, which got stuffy after a while when the door was closed.
When I heard the car pulling in, Michelle and I closed all the doors, and she went back to cooking while I waited in the room for my sis to give my grand-aunt the official tour of the house. Honestly, I waited so long for them to get their act together that I wanted to just go out and greet my grand-aunt instead of her "finding" me. Just as the thought popped into my head, I heard them starting the whole tour. Right when my sis reached the door to her room, she made it loud and clear they were coming in, and once the lights were on, my grand-aunt realised who was hiding in the room and squealed (she had a really baaaad cough, almost losing her voice) and quickly hopped in for a big bear hug.
As a son, he's really kinda useless. Here his mom screams and he just wonders what she's screaming about instead of finding out if she's alright. Whateva~! My sis then calls him to meet her "friend" but he doesn't even bother. So here we go, Michelle runs out with the camera to get his reaction, while I stand at the door and my sis is screaming, "come meet my friend!". He acts all cool and all, turning around slowly with his cigarette, trying to check this friend out and realised it was me. He immediately turns into an idiot and starts acting all goofy.
Somehow we kinda forgot about dessert and only had the little bag of fortune cookies I got for the fun of it. Shane then suggested ice cream which no one objected to, plus it was Tuesday a.k.a. 1/2 price waffle day @ Gelare's, and off we went! Great way to end a day jammed packed with excitement.
I Need Sleep!
