10 Dec 2005

It was a boring night (as usual) and Daryl decided to bring us out to the clubs. Within minutes, all 3 of us were dressed up and waited for him to come over. Since Daryl was more vain then my sister, it took him about an hour to get to our place, which left us time to take stupid photos. Somehow all of us decided to dress in green with my sis going for the "stepford wife with an edge" look.

Before...

After?

We get to the club later and it's rather packed with quite a few dodgy people. The first thing that happened was someone dropping their drink, getting our shoes wet. Music was the kind I'd be lounging to instead of dancing, but Michelle obviously enjoyed it and so did the two drunk dancing queens everyone was watching. About an hour or two later we were out of the place and that makes my first clubbing experience in WA. As well as THE most boring clubbing experience EVER!

The plan was to get to Fremantle early for the weekend markets but after clubbing, we woke up around noon. Since it wasn't too late to get lunch there, we set off to get nourishment. As we got closer, I noticed an increase in the number of LOUD bikes going past, revving their engines when they were behind slow moving cars.

We got down at the train station and the first things that greeted us were the seagulls having fun on the lawn. Later a group of planes flew overhead practicing their formation probably for the arrival of the Clipper Race next weekend. There was also this obedient dog that just sat outside the shop waiting for it's owner. It's eyes reminded me of this mutilated dog in "The Fly", but this one's not all gross and slimy.

My sis takes me right to the restaurant, La Porchetta, and suggested that we have dessert at Cold Rock just next to it. While waiting for our orders to arrive, one greedy lil bugger came to help clean up the pavement and sat in his "spot" ready to swoop down for more. The food arrived on the table that was too small to contain all our orders and I was enjoying every mouthful. The Caesar salad they had was really delicoius, generous with their ingredients and the dressing was a very flavourfu and balancedl blend. With the restaurant right next to the port, the prawns were really sweet with the taste of the sea still in them. My sis had garlic potatoes and a plate of her favourite Putanesca, while I had a Minestrone, the Caesar and the Pollo e Avocado. Somehow I can't find pictures of the pastas and finished the soup before I remembered the photo op. In the end, we ended up too full to have dessert.

He's Trying To Tempt You With His Eyes

With just about 30 minutes before the shops start packing up for the day, we went into the weekend market for a quick round, making notes of anything we might want to get tomorrow or next week. Once we got out I spot the sign for fresh oysters and went in to have a look. With beautiful green mussels on sale, I decided to get a bag for tonight's dinner as well as some white bait. Since we were getting some stuff, we also got a tray of oysters to indulge in. Just like the prawns, the oysters were full of flavour with a light hint of salt, just like it was washed in sea water.

Nummy

After dinner, my sis brought me to Metro City, the R&B club she has been talking to me about since her previous trip here. She informed me that it has changed since her last trip, with much more Asians going there than just a small group chilling around one of the bars. True to her words, I felt like I was clubbing back home. After a few drinks, she started spotting her friends and there was one bugger who was simply desperate to get some female attention. The music they played was nice, but it would've been better if they let some run a little longer than just half a minute and cut it off with another. The funniest bit of the night was the single male dancer that was doing really odd ballet-hip-hop moves. I think he made the visit worthwhile.
