07 May 2006

I get woken up by Mom and she tells me that I'm going to be late for my flight if I sleep anymore. So sit up and check my phone and instead of a message from Didi telling me she forgot her passport, that I expected, I got one from my cousin Alex telling me that their baby girl, Chloe, was born early this morning. Sadly I didn't have time to pop by at the hospital and had to see her when I get back.

Back to the day's adventure and I'll start from the time I met up with Didi who, as usual, met me in style at the entrance of the departure hall, looking cool having her smoke. Since she wouldn't be able to smoke too often while she's in the terminal, unless she wanted to spend the whole time out in the smoking areas, she had to savour her cigarette before we started our journey inside.

The first thing she looked for once she got passed immigration was to look for CIGARETTES! We already agreed to get a bottle of alcohol and drink ourselves silly but she tried Bailey's for the first time, fell in love with it and decided to get that. Since there was a promo with getting two bottles, well, you can guess what we did. Then I had to get a present for Desak, who's birthday is tomorrow, as well as something for Wayan. Both of them were my former colleagues that got to work with me as they finished their work experience for school. Once we got what we needed, we had time for a snack before we had to make our way to our gate. Unlike the last time with Amy, we didn't have to rush, and even had time to take some photos to keep us entertained.

First-Time Flyer All Excited

Fave Plane

day1-15

Fast-forward to us getting our butts in the plane and I think our seats had a cloud of laughing gas over them as right from the start, we kept laughing till we landed in Bali. I got a feeling the crew thought we were either mad or drunk, but they were also a bunch of good-looking, comical buggers. Maybe it was first-time flyer jitters for Didi, and it's good she made it funny and not kill me with any worries. So this time I got a pic of our seafood meal with the missing salmon dish. This flight had the system where you could choose from 99 channels and even fast-forward or return to any part of the film you missed. I'm guessing this is NEW and I'm LOVING it. If it's old, I say BRING IT BACK! So with this new bit of technology onboard, I decided to re-watch the movie "Casanova", skip the boring bits and finish the movie that I couldn't before.

Nice Day Out

Yum!

day1-08

Soon we were in Bali and quickly made our way to our accomodation. We had a simple room on the ground floor that was a big relief to my back. The bathroom and toilet were seperated and that's good since we don't plan on taking any showers with the other having a poop at the same time. The bath was a bit odd though, it had a nice tub in there but it basically didn't have any space for you to change. So it was either change in the tub, change out in the open, or run across to the toilet and change there. The rest of the room was simple and had all we needed for a relaxing holiday, while the little porch was quickly taken up by the "Smoking Buddha".

Once we got our things settled, we were out the door to explore what was around the corner from our resort. At the same time, we started shopping and got some shades and slippers, drinks and snacks, as well as something for later. While Didi was choosing her slipper, the power decided to cut off and we were left in the dark. Thank goodness for my phone and she got to buy herself a pair to wear out tomorrow. We got back rather early and just enjoyed the Indonesian shows on TV while planning our move for the next day. That's also when Didi decided to sing me to sleep, but more like put a song in my head for the entire week!
