It took a short drive through a lovely neighbourhood to get to a nice shady little parking lot behind some shops. And after crossing the street, we arrive at this cafe that seems to be filling out fast.
As most cafes in WA, you order and pay for your food, then take a seat and wait for it to land at the table. As Michelle was a bit of a regular here, she already knew what she wanted and suggested that we share the cinnamon french toast to end our breakfast on a sweet note. After looking through the menu, I decided on something but changed my mind when the first dish on the 'Specials' board caught my eye. Something about crab and eggs got me salivating and I can't remember what my previous order was. So after paying for our breakfast, we were chatting about how she and Mark got to know about this place, just before a couple near us caught our attention with their body language. And so started a little session of people watching and commentary (bitching if it sounds better?).
Soon, breakfast was served and the whiff of my omelette made my mouth water, and if I didn't swallow, I would have looked like a drooling idiot. Taking the first bite, was a little bit of a disappointment as the omelette was a little burnt. However, as I got through the rest, I realised that, thank goodness too, only that bit was a little burnt. I guess the fire was a little uneven. Anyway, the omelette was moist and thoroughly flavoured with the bits of crab meat scattered in it. The little bit of watercress gave some colour, as well as a refreshing texture and flavour to the rich omelette. With the two thick slices of toast, I would have been too full to have the cinnamon toast. Well, I skipped a slice of toast and replaced it with the cinnamon toast. The flavour was really subtle, and it was sweet enough without the syrup. With the fruits that were served together, it was really a sweet note to end breakfast.
Back towards the car, we spot a tiny little shop that sold really nice housewares. With her hunt for a gift still not over, we went in to check out the goods. The prices were a little out of her budget, but we did get a good idea of what to get for her friend's wedding. So off we went to the nearest shopping centre to look for a less expensive, yet lovely, wedding gift.
After going through about all the shops, through candles and glasses, beautiful cards and vases, Michelle finally found the gift, she felt, was just prefect for her friend. We then sat down for a well deserved cuppa before heading back home.
