The day started with someone letting in all the mosquitoes into the apartment because she wanted to have a smoke. It was a lovely day, one that would have been nice to spend in the pool, but we had plans. So we head down to catch a Blue Bird cab to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). The ride definitely got into a traffic jam and Adi got a look at all the things they would sell car to car, as well as other "roadside entertainment" just waiting to get a few coins for their efforts. As soon as the salesmen passed, the little kids came to the windows asking for some coins and we just had to ignore them to save our hearts from being broken.
After an hour, we get to our destination and the first thing we did was to have our breakfast. Adi had Mi Goreng, while I chose Mi Bakso. Not sure why she posed with the coconut, but she didn't have it in the end. What I had was a Coke Zero, and since it's a Muslim majority here, even that is certified Halal. Whatever that would help with sales I guess.
After checking out the waterpark across the carpark, we head into Mini Indonesia. The park didn't change much since I last was here, but we took the cable car and missed out on the monorail and train rides. We also had creepy rabbits chasing us to take pictures so that they could force some tips from us. Seriously, they weren't cute and it would have been better if someone dressed up in traditional clothes to take pictures.
Almost ending the round in the park, Adi wanted to know what was in the giant Komodo Dragon statue and I told her it was a reptile park. Adi isn't one for reptiles, but she still wanted to have a look anyway. The first thing that greeted us was a sign for an Alligator Snapping Turtle. We were trying to spot it when a friendly guy lifted it up to show it to us, and it definitely snapped for us.
Then as I was snapping other pictures, Adi came to me a bit flustered and told me she got a bit freaked out taking a picture of the alligator. Even though there was a barrier, it did feel a bit creepy taking a picture of it string right at you with only a flimsy-looking barrier between you and a beast that can leap over our heads.
Soon, she skipped the menacing giant and starting getting close to the smaller ones. There was an array of reptiles, and some of them pulled really cool faces as we snapped away. Some were a bit shy, but showed off their special "markings". While there were a few that were probably going to kill us if there wasn't a barrier.
Cheeky
Tired
Sassy
Friendly
Fierce!
After the reptile park and the rest of TMII, we took the same exit towards the tower and Adi had to get a ton of photos at the tower. I still don't know what it's for, and neither does she. I then call dad to find out if we should meet for dinner, but he said it was better to meet back at the apartment as it would probably take us hours to do so. Lucky for us, heading back to the city didn't take as long as everyone was heading out to the rural areas and we got back just as it got dark.
Adi wanted to check out the Dome outlet here and I suggested we have Nasi Padang for dinner. There was a good one in the building and it would be a first for Adi. Overwhelmed by the amount of food, she didn't even know she should start by just spooning some rice onto her plate. Soon, she realised that it was a simple as having a buffet without moving to get your food.
Then it was my favourite Triple Chocolate Donut to end the day on a sweet note.
